New in A COMPANION IN ZEOR. E-Selyn: Words from the Web -- Compiled by Kaíres Tévesu. Featuring a discussion on First Channel and other Simegen novels at http://www.simegen.com/sgfandom/rimonslibrary/cz/cz21/firstchannel-list.html .

Sime-center is the charitable organization within the World of Sime~Gen, currently seeking funds to support "Clarion Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers' Workshop" .

October's story is "Talos' Bounty" - by Laura L. Baumbach (about an alien bounty hunter and his interesting 'catch').

October's art is "Treexture_9" - by G. B. Chew (one element of what he calls a 'cycle' of drawings. These are a lot of fun, because they exist on several levels. On the one hand, they look like parts of trees; then again...).

October's contributing author, Laura L. Baumbach, is a member of Broad Universe, an international organization promoting science fiction, fantasy, and horror written by women...writers helping writers, on a writers' website. This special synergy arose last month when SimeCenter posted the first of several stories contributed by members of BroadUniverse. These 'Broads,' as they call themselves, are outright awesome. Baumbach, for instance, recently won a major prize in the 2004 DIY Book Festival. Her "Demon Spawn - Tales From Demon Under Glass" took first place in the FAN FICTION category.

This month's story was especially submitted in support of the Red Cross: "My Mommy is a Soldier" by Georgiann Baldino, a touching vignette about how to tell young children that their mommy won't be at home for a while.

This amazing lady writes novels, stories and plays, and even has a cartoon strip in "Futures MYSTERY Anthology Magazine." See it all at: http://home.comcast.net/~gbaldino/ .

In the Art department, G. B. Chew has contributed "Kingswood_1"...another of his intriguing kaliedoscopic designs.

Several new pages have appeared on his website in the last few months, including the page that contains the 'cycle' images. The main site is: http://www.home.earthlink.net/~aboniks/ . The 'cycles' are on the recent works page.

******UPDATE TO THE SIME~GEN RPG --- BORDERLANDS

Part 9 of the current Borderlands RPG scenario has just been released,with 21 episodes, for a current total of 144. This one is mostly about conferences: academic, medical, and familial. It introduces several new and interesting characters, as well as featuring the return of lots of old fan favorites from both recent and not-so-recent episodes. We even have Hajene Darrel, the chicken channel from Bender Cove (and later, the Snake River Dam), as a major character in several episodes. The spotlights section of Simegen.com currently needs interviewers, spotlight posting personnel, an assistant spotlights gatemaster, and a keygifts store manager. We are also requesting an Assistant Reviews Co-coordinator - duties include covering when other staff are unable to perform tasks. We are almost finished revamping our reviews section and expect activity to be at a constant high level. We're looking for a versatile quick learner able to put in some time daily. Pluses are: A good command of the English language (syntax, grammar, punctuation, in that order,) some computer experience or ability to learn, and an interest in books.
