****** SIMECENTER NEWS

The schedule is still a bit out of kilter, but we'll have the April edition up soon. Here's what you have to look forward to:
      - "The Widower's Wife" by Jayge Carr
      - "A Day in A Life" by Michael Cox
      - "Desert Calm II" by GB Chew

The recipient for these works is the amazing Houston Katrina Relief Fund .

See it at http://www.simegen.com/simecenter/ .

The story and artworks posted last month will stay up a while longer, too, because they haven't been up for a full month yet. And we now have back-links to first two chapters of "Savage Empire," in case you missed those the first time around.

---

Recently it's been quite a struggle to find stories to post. If any of you know (or are!) published authors, please consider letting SimeCenter post your work, to solicit donations for a worthy cause.

This goes for artists, too. Mike and Ben are incredibly generous, letting us use their fascinating artworks. We'd like to post other artist's, too.

Likewise, are any of you have contacts at The Clarion Foundation, or The Clarion Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers' Workshop? We want to get them as a recipient. We'd also like to solicit stories from current and former students...and teachers.

Being published on SimeCenter doesn't make anyone a lot of money, but it's great publicity for everyone involved.

Please talk to me about your ideas.

In Service to Unity,
Kaires Tevesu

****** WELCOMING KATHERINE TURCOTTE TO OUR REVIEWERS STAFF

Katherine J.Turcotte is an avid reader. Her love for books has grown over the years to include not only reviewing, but owning her own online secondhand bookstore, Enchanted Wood Books.

K

atherine has reviewed for Romantic Times Book Club magazine and several online sources such as Road to Romance, Romance Reviews Today, Bookpleasures.com, and Foreword Reviews. She will be working with the staff on Simegen.com. as both a reviewer and Author Interview Coordinator.

Katherine says: "When I am not reviewing or writing, I freelance for PersonalsTrainers.com, a service that enables me to help singles create online creative dating profiles. I am also studying for my degree in Natural Health and plan on specializing in herbal medicine, which is the love of my life. I live deep in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey on a small farm that I share with a bevy of Cocker Spaniels, my German Shepherd and soul mate, June, one cocky little Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Elly Mae, and a lone miniature poodle, Holly. I am the patron saint of stray cats that live here by the score. I am also the caretaker of a forest of white deer who follow me around like I am the Pied Piper (and I have the pictures to prove it)! You might want to read my blog to hear more about life in the woods."

******Donation of Fanzines to Cockeysville, Maryland Library

On a beautiful, sunny, Friday -- March 31, Kaires (who occasionally visits from her home state of California) and Karen made a trip to Baltimore County to donate several assorted editions of Kraith Collected, Ambrov Zeor, Companion in Zeor, and Zeor Forum to the newly developed Fanzine collection at the Cockeysville, Maryland library.

An article in the Baltimore newspaper, some months ago, told of the assembling of a fanzine collection as being the first in the Maryland area. It took some time until we tracked down a library staffer who knew of the collection.

We told Jacqueline and Jean about the library's project, and we had their blessing to offer the zines.

The collection of this library focuses on zines much newer than ours. One of the librarians was quite surprised to know that fanzines were printed in the 1970's -- until she was handed a CZ issue to glance at. We were both thanked several times for our donation to the collection.

We were told that the issues we provided would be given to other libraries, if Cockeysville didn't want them --- as several libraries throughout the country collect and circulate vintage fanzines. For information on the Cockeysville collection check out http://www.bcpl.info/zines/ .

After our foray to the library, we stopped in Timonium, Maryland at the local "Steak and Ale" restaurant (familiar to those fans who attend Darkover Grand Council) where we enjoyed a leisurely lunch. Leftovers were brought home in a "Genpak."
