******MEISHA MERLIN NEWS

News from our Sime~Gen Publisher, Meisha Merlin Publishing Inc. With my personal remembrance of Robert A. Heinlein.

At long last, we have direct news from Meisha Merlin on their plans for Sime~Gen and other things going on there.

As many of you may have seen by now, Meisha Merlin Publishing Inc. has pulled off a grandiose industry coup.

Here's from the MM website:

Meisha Merlin Publishing, Inc. is proud to announce that it has been chosen by the Robert A. and Virginia Heinlein Prize Trust and the Butler Library Foundation to publish -- The Virginia Edition: The Definitive Collection of Robert A. Heinlein.

This historical project will consist of forty-six titles spanning the entire writing career of Robert A. Heinlein. The Virginia Edition will contain all of Heinleinšs novels and short stories. It will also include all of his non-fiction titles along with the vast majority of his interviews, social commentaries, speeches and articles. Finally the Robert A. and Virginia Heinlein Prize Trust has agreed to allow us to include several volumes of Heinleinšs letters and personal correspondence.

This is truly a one of a kind collection of one the genrešs greatest writers!

In the fall of 2005, MM will be re-releasing Sime~Gen: The Unity Trilogy through their new distributor with a publicity spread that should bring the book into stores in Canada and other countries. It will get much wider exposure than it has to date.

Meisha Merlin has now scheduled TO KISS OR TO KILL for June 2006.

Watch simegen-l and/or http://www.simegen.net for further updates as they occur.

We don't have any news on the cover yet either. As soon as we do, we'll let you know.

This is all-new, never before published material. There is one long novel by Jean Lorrah, To Kiss Or To Kill, which is set right after Zelerod's Doom. It is followed by a Zhag and Tonyo short story. Zhag and Tonyo are the Sime and Gen musicians who take Gulf Territory by storm right after Unity. Jean will be writing an entire novel about them one of these years. And the third item in this omnibus is a very short novel by Jacqueline Lichtenberg, entitled Personal Recognizance. That novel is set after Mahogany Trinrose and deals with some of the same problems and themes addressed in To Kiss Or To Kill.

******REREADABLE BOOKS UPDATE

The 2005 rereadable books by Jacqueline Lichtenberg is now posted. On this same page you will find the books that will be discussed in columns through May 2005.

The ReReadable Books SF/F review columns for February, March and April 2005 have now been posted on simegen.com. This column appears in print in the New Age Magazine, The Monthly Aspectarian, and then is posted to their website and subsequently archived here. ReReadable Books reviews only 5 star books, books that can be highly recommended.

Books, TV and movies are discussed within the New Age context using Astrology and Tarot references, but are also aimed at the writer interested in perfecting both art and craft. The column occasionally roams far outside the SF/F field.

Columns in the Reviews Section of simegen.com are completely independent of the general reviews department, each column reflecting the personal opinions of the columnist.
