****** SIMECENTER NEWS

We had hoped to be able to start serializing another book on SimeCenter this month, but the publisher nixed the idea. And the backup story we expected got temporarily lost when the author's computer had a nervous breakdown. Some feelers are out, looking for another story to post this month.

The next SimeCenter (http://www.simegen.com/simecenter/) edition, expected out in the next few days has one much-anticipated story:
      - Chapter 3 of "Savage Empire" by Jean Lorrah
and two intriguing artworks
      - "Compliance" by Michael Cox
      - "Alien Device (Inoperable)" by GB Chew

The recipient for this story, and at least one of the artworks, is:
      - American Cancer Society
because we want to direct attention to the upcoming Relay for Life, the Celebration of Survivors, now with thousands of participants, in 20 countries!

*******CLASSIC TREK FANFIC

The long unavailable volume of Classic Trek stories, "Quartet Plus Two" by professional author, Claire Gabriel, is now available for free reading on simegen.com. Claire's story "Ni Var" became one of the most famous stories in the Bantam paperback STAR TREK: The New Voyages. Quartet Plus Two with its powerful writing and clear imagery remains among the top all-time favorites. It is not slash.

This volume was first printed by the same publisher who made "Kraith Collected" famous in fandom. It is not yet available on new paper. It took nearly a year to find a partial copy on E-Bay. The first published volume, QUARTET, was all that turned up. The second edition, Quartet Plus Two, with two stories that finish an entire story cycle, never turned up on E-bay so Claire had to mail her only copy to be scanned and OCR'd by Ronnie Bob Whitaker -- a miracle worker among us!

On this site, you will find a full article about Claire, links to her other fanfic works in Star Trek: Voyager, and many penetrating comments by her fans.

*******Part 17 "BORDERLANDS" ROLE PLAYING GAME

Part 17 of the Borderlands RPG (Co-op Fiction) scenario, "Preparing for Disaster"is now at http://www.simegen.com/sgfandom/fans/bev/boom/index.html#part.17 .

This is a fairly short segment, with fourteen episodes. It's main focus is on a team at Sat'htine, preparing for a training exercise in disaster management. Meanwhile, Seruffin faces a double-barrelled disaster at Hannard's Ford, and various ongoing situations take another step forward.

Those of you who've been following "Borderlands" require no introduction to this long-running saga. Those who haven't might want to take a look at the story from its beginnings in Part 1.

In lieu of chocolate, please give us feedback. This time, the Church Ladies are back by special request from a fan; we do pay attention to your comments and requests. Beverly, John, Mary Lou, and Lexie are already at work on Part 18 -- and, as always, welcome new participants, as well as comments from old friends.
