** E-PIRACY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Message from Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America

In keeping with its anti-e-piracy stance, SFWA's E-piracy Committee is asking you to join us in a non-confrontational, web-based campaign to educate the average reader to explain:
    a) the harm caused to writers by e-piracy;
    b) common myth-perceptions;
    c) the long-term dangers of e-piracy;
    d) quality and other problems posed to readers;
    e) the legal and ethical issues;
    f) and the proper way to obtain e-books.

SFWA invite all writers and readers, anyone who loves and respects written science fiction, fantasy or other forms of speculative fiction, to support our anti-e-piracy message by placing one of our E-piracy Awareness Campaign "sound bites" on their web sites and/or in e-mail/news signatures. Our campaign slogans are available as text, buttons, or banners. SFWA members are invited to suggest new slogans (or comment on existing ones) in addition to the over a dozen already in place to suit many philosophical tastes, such as,

Vader said, "Luke, I am your feather." -- Bothered by typos? Buy author-approved e-books.

E-Piracy Myth: Writers are rich. E-piracy doesn't hurt them.

Keep Writers Writing! Pay for Your E-books!

Visit http://www.sfwa.org/epiracy for details or send comments to epiracy@sfwa.org. SFWA appreciate your support in this campaign!

With special thanks to Megan Lindholm for the idea, Rachel Hartman for the graphics, and to all the sound bite contributors,

-- Russell Davis, outgoing e-Piracy Committee Chair
-- Andrew Burt, incoming e-Piracy Committee Chair
