** AWARD
The Sime~Gen Novel presentation site has become a "featured site of the day" on 7/17/02 on a search engine.

** Jean Lorrah's BLOOD WILL TELL
BLOOD WILL TELL, Jean Lorrah's e-book that won the Lord Ruthven Assembly Award as best vampire novel of 2001, has been contracted by a new small press, Ben Bella Books http://www.benbellabooks.com/. This means physical books will be available in brick and mortar bookstores, although as Ben Bella is new and small, it will probably be specialty stores and not Wal-Mart. The book will have new cover art, and author and publisher are currently working on a promotion scheme. It should be available toward the end of 2002.

BLOOD WILL TELL will continue to be published in e-book form by Awe-Struck E-books http://www.awe-struck.net/, its original publisher, but the print-on-demand version will be withdrawn in October.

Find out more about BLOOD WILL TELL at http://www.simegen.com/writers/bloodwilltell/ .

** WRITING FELLOWSHIP
Bernheim Writing Fellowship 2003

The Trustees of Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest are pleased to announce the 2003 Bernheim Writing Fellowship. Bernheim is a beautiful 14,000-acre property located 25 miles south of Louisville, Kentucky. It encompasses a nationally recognized arboretum and 14,000 acres of natural area protecting diverse plant and animal species. Thirty-five miles of hiking trails and twenty miles of gravel fire roads offer abundant recreational opportunities, and attract several hundred thousand visitors each year.

Jurying Procedure
The Jurors will select the award recipient based on the quality of the work samples submitted. Support materials will be considered, but only as a secondary resource.

Eligibility
The goal in all of Bernheim's activities is to help realize its mission of strengthening the bond between people and nature by finding new ways to connect nature with people's everyday lives. We believe that if people recognize and benefit from the many values found in nature, quality of life will be improved, and thus they will be motivated to protect the natural world for both its practical and its intrinsic value. To that end, the Bernheim Writing Fellowship is given annually to a talented writer who will work within the forest and/or arboretum to create works that are inspired by nature. The Fellowship provides the writer an opportunity to advance his or her own skills and career while enhancing awareness of Bernheim's goals regionally, nationally and internationally.

Award
The Fellow recipient is required to live at Bernheim for up to three months while working on his/her project. Bernheim will provide comfortable housing in a beautiful wooded setting, plus a financial grant of up to $1000.00 to cover travel, material cost and personal expenses.

The recipient of the Bernheim Fellowship must donate examples of a body of work produced during the Fellowship to Bernheim for its permanent use. These works will become part of The Bernheim Library Collection. Fellowship recipients will be asked to interact with the public in some way, which may include participating in workshops, readings, book signings, etc. Bernheim will reach an agreement regarding the work to be donated and the interaction required from each artist.
