******SIMECENTER******

This month's story is one of a delightful series of 'real truth' historical vignettes. This one is called:

When Miriam Had Leprosy (by Lois June Wickstrom)
      - magic is not the way

The accompanying artwork is:

A Perfect Dream (by Michael Cox)
      - in perfect solitude

These enjoyable works were donated in support of the Modest Needs and their continuing assistance to survivors of devastating natural disasters.

When you donate to this worthy organization, be sure to tell them you were referred by SimeCenter .

******NEW ASSISTANT REVIEWS COORDINATOR******

Hi, my name is Alice Klein and I'm the new Assistant Review Coordinator. 'll try to be brief, but I've fit an awful lot into my sixty years of life. I was born in Brooklyn, raised on Long Island(in Huntington Station) and moved to Florida in the early 70s. I have three college degrees- one in Marine Biology; one in Nursing and one in Business Administration. Over the course of the years, I was also in the U. S. Army in the military intelligence service.

I've been reviewing for Simegen for three years. I've been writing for years starting with a poetry contest I won while still in high school, but I've been extremely reticent about trying to sell my work. Hopefully, since I recently finished a novella, I can concentrate on doing that. My computer is "attached at the hip" and has become my "next of kin". I have been speed reading since I was in grade school and, until I started reviewing for Simegen, I was forcing my husband into bankruptcy with the number of books I could devour in an extremely limited span of time!

I look forward to a long, satisfying relationship with Simegen.

******JEAN IN JAPAN******

Jean is in Japan to participate in the 2007 Worldcon. On 8/24/07 she sent several of us a quick note. I wanted to share this with everyone. I'm sure a convention report itself will be forthcoming on Jean's return....Karen

The tour is wonderful, but very, very tightly scheduled. They are trying to show us everything. So far it's been temples, shrines, castles, and gardens, plus three dinners of different traditional Japanese styles, two of which were delicious and the third sort of bland--shabu shabu where you cook your own food at the table, and I guess the interest is in the process rather than the resulting boiled meat and veggies.

I am exercising far more than I ever do in exercise class, and fall asleep exhausted every night. But it's a good tired, and I sleep like a log. Except for muscle aches and pains from all the climbing, I feel good--and it is quite obvious that I am stronger than I was a year ago.

This is soak-it-up time. I don't have non-exhausted time to think about anything other than what we are doing on the tour. Today we are off to a Japanese cooking school, where we prepare our own lunch!
Jean

******HELP WANTED

The spotlights section of Simegen.com currently needs interviewers, spotlight posting personnel, an assistant spotlights gatemaster, and a keygifts store manager. We are also requesting an Assistant Reviews Co-coordinator - duties include covering when other staff are unable to perform tasks. We are almost finished revamping our reviews section and expect activity to be at a constant high level. We're looking for a versatile quick learner able to put in some time daily. Pluses are: A good command of the English language (syntax, grammar, punctuation, in that order), some computer experience or ability to learn, and an interest in books. Direct all inquiries to simegen@simegen.com.

Individuals to take over, or assist with the SIMECENTER Site -- It isn't at all hard, but a bit time-consuming...and very rewarding ("meeting" these marvelous authors and artists, if only via EMail and their websites). Please write me, Kaires Tevesu , if you are interested.

******PUBLICATION SCHEDULE

We have had to withdraw the entire Sime~Gen project from Meisha Merlin for a wide range of reasons. They missed several deadlines for publication of TO KISS OR TO KILL and showed no signs of intention to get it out any time in the foreseeable future. That stalled everything else. It was very disappointing.

So we are now actively in search of another publisher.

THE UNITY TRILOGY should continue to be available for some time -- they have the right to dispose of all stock in the Meisha Merlin warehouse.
