BOOK I – HERO
&
BOOK II – BORDER DISPUTE

After a space battle, a non-human fighter pilot, Indiw, is the lone survivor of his Squadron.  Unable to rejoin his carrier, Indiw volunteers to fly with the human ‘s Pit Bull Squadron in a desperate attempt to stop the enemy Hyos from invading.  But Indiw has no idea how little he understands human ways in war or in friendship.

When Pit Bull’s commander, Walter Falstaff, is stranded in a crippled fighter after the battle, Indiw stays behind to escort Falstaff home through enemy territory , even against orders.  Humans call Indiw a hero and award him a medal.  They didn’t know they were branding him a monster in the eyes of his own people.

Years after the ultimate disgrace of being branded a hero, Indiw lives alone on a comfortable estate on his native planet.  His Ardr blood urges him to kill any trespasser.  During an attack by the Hyos, a stray Pit Bull Squadron fighter crashes on his land, the human pilot unconscious.  Instinct says KILL – but a newer bond says HELP.
