  Experience:

9/’99 to present – Reporter for Our Town Newspaper, Pearl River, NY

Responsibilities: Cover news and generate stories for a suburban area just 20 miles from New York City. Report on local and political events, localizing national stories and investigative reporting. Take photographs to accompany news stories.

Achievements: Vocational Service award from the Rotary Club of Pearl River in recognition of Outstanding Accomplishment, High Integrity, and Meritorious Service, New York State Assembly Citation “Anne Pinzow has enriched the public dialogue as a result of her thorough and in-depth journalism, which is the bulwark of an informed and civil society,Certificate of Appreciation from Palisades Civic Association for bringing to light urgent issues of concern about toxic waste dumped into the local drinking water.

1/1999- 1/2000 – Stringer for The Journal News/ West Nyack/NY

Responsibilities: Assigned local events and stories, localizing national stories and investigative reporting of political issues in New York.

Achievements: Consistently wrote front page headline stories and uncovered stories which were later followed up by full time reporters.

5/1998-1/2000 – Freelance editor and technical writer at CC Motorcycle Magazine, Sys-Com Publications (magazines for computer language developers.)

1993 - 1998 – Consulting Editor on contract with Toad Hall, Inc./Laceyville, PA (publishing company)

Responsibilities: Acquiring new authors, contract negotiations, editing books, desktop layout, arranging printing, marketing and distribution.

Achievements: Five books on the best sellers list and the launching of several authors’ careers.

1985 – 1993: Technical Writing and Video Production on a freelance basis for health related and pharmaceutical companies including:

Responsibilities: Research topics, interview experts and representatives for the purpose of writing pamphlets, writing and production of instructional and inter-company videos and some advertisements.

1985 Semester Internship at Fox Television (Midday Live With Bill Boggs)

Responsibilities: (Because of my previous experience I was given greater responsibilities and autonomy than is usual for an intern) Hosting Green Room, screening calls, pre-interviews, logging, scouting locations, arranging for talent appearances and accommodations, waivers and security notification, writing dialog and questions for host, arranging all but technical production for ideas generated by myself.

Achievements: Produced all but technical aspects of segment on "Dungeons and Dragons" game controversy which received highest rating of show that season.

Major projects: Development, research and writing of the award winning weekly column HELPLINE, profiling local volunteer organisations and efforts, (many times dealing with social and health oriented issues); Development, research and writing of the series THE NEW IMMIGRANTS, interviews with new citizens, discussing the problems in their old countries, why they left, why they came here, the differences in what they expected and what they found, what contributions they are making to the American melting pot.

Responsibilities: Copy editing of national daily columns, entertainment section and local organisation information columns. Liaison with local volunteer and social organisations and reporter on their activities. Contributing editor to feature columns. Reporter and photographer on special projects.
