Report on local and political events, localizing national stories and investigative reporting. Take photographs to accompany news stories. Achievements: Certificate of Appreciation from Palisades Civic Association for bringing to light urgent issues of concern about toxic waste dumped into the local drinking water. Discovered the perpetrator of the largest underground toxic waste dump in the country. President of neighboring Chamber of Commerce requested publisher to extend my beat to cover his area and guaranteed advertising to finance increased circulation. Publisher said he nominated my work for a Pulitzer Prize. Have improved the reception this paper received from the community. Interviewed by both 60 Minutes and Time Magazine concerning stories Ive written. 1/1999- 1/2000 Stringer for The Journal News/ West Nyack/NY Responsibilities: Assigned local events and stories, localizing national stories and investigative reporting of political issues in New York.
