<Anne> Hi
<jl> Welcome back Kip
<jl> The 11th ??? Annual Chat of Sime~Gen Inc. and participants in simegen.com is now called to order. Is there any old business?
<Jean> Actually, we should start with reports.
<jl> Here is the President's report for 2009. I'll have to post it in pieces.

Sime~Gen President's Report
- by Jacqueline Lichtenberg

2009 has been a challenge for all corporations, and this tiny one has taken a real beating. We have pursued an advertising-supported business model, and advertising is what has disappeared.
Despite that, a lot of work has been accomplished behind the scenes.

A 5-volume set of non-fiction e-books is ready to go into "production" as a publication as per our money making project begun in 2008. The set of books is held up though for lack of artwork and other production details.

Meanwhile, many of our key people have suffered major health problems, leaving all our departments at a virtual standstill, just station-keeping.
We are, however, thanks to Patric's solid construction of our server's scripts, still on the web and growing one page at a time. Many pages have been updated, among them Rereadable Books in the Reviews department.

New initiatives are being planned for 2010 to break this logjam, and various concepts are under consideration.
As the recovery of the general economy progresses we expect opportunities to become available to bring our various projects to fruition.
So we have been unable to make any real progress this year -- but we have been "station keeping" and in this corporate environment that is actually good news.

<jl> Call for the CEO's report.
<Jean> Okay.

Sime~Gen CEO's Report
- by Jean Lorrah

Although we lost money this year, we are currently in no danger of going under. But we have to turn our financial direction around somehow.
The big financial news is that our new server is now PAID OFF. We own it free and clear, so our monthly bill is only for bandwidth charges.
One sad thing is that few people were interested in Sime~Gen in 2009.
No one took us up on our 10th Anniversary advertising specials.
Few if any of our fans and friends wrote up anything for our historical archives.
Obviously this was a year when everyone was too busy just surviving themselves to indulge in fandom.
Things are turning around out in the "real world," so we hope they will soon turn around for us, too.
A BIG thank you to all of you who remember, when you are going to buy something from Amazon.com anyway, to start your search from the simegen.com top page.
It costs you nothing, but each sale that comes through our search boxes brings us in a little money.
Jacqueline and I have also been running ourselves ragged trying to get known out there on the social networks, so that Jacqueline in particular will be a known quantity when the tarot books come out.
- We are both on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Jacqueline continues her reviews and weekly literary blog:
     <http://aliendjinnromances.blogspot.com>
- I have two Twitter accounts. My personal one is "@HouseOfKeon"
Jacqueline also has two: "@9Cups" and "@jlichtenberg"
- I also run @TipsOnWriting, a new tip every day--and if you think
THAT'S easy to do, try it!
- Then I have a blog about my travels, with lots of photos, at
     <http://www.houseofkeon.blogspot.com>
started with the journal I kept on my trip to India and Nepal last Christmas/New Year's.
The whole idea of all this social networking is to reach out and get known, in order to sell more books...Once we have the books to sell, of course!
Jacqueline reaches about 1500 people with each twitter post
I reach just over 500 with mine, having started later than Jacqueline.

Eventually we hope to have some books on writing out there, too.
You may ask why we are not trying to sell S~G.
<jl> Jean - read what MTZ has been saying in #sgtalk
But you already know the answer. Can't read and type at the same time.
Non-fiction sells. Fiction doesn't. So right now we need to sell some non-fiction to support our terrible habit of writing fiction.
That's about it for the CEO's report: guarded optimism.

<jl> Good - Jean go read MTZ for a bit Midge - can you give us a brief Reviews Department report please?
<Karen> Go ahead, Midge. Laurraine also did a lot with reviews this year. Maybe she has a report as well?
<Midge> Thanks, Karen. Folks, I'm sorry to report that I don't have a departmental report ready. I've been one of our sick personnel. I will consult with Laurraine later, and try to get a report ready. Laurraine?
<Karen> We can always post a report later when we put the meeting online.
<jl> Laurraine can you add a few words to the Reviews report?
<Laurraine> I really did very little since I was busy building, moving, and unpacking.
I posted one review. I checked all the reviews that had been posted. Last I looked, there weren't any new reviews.
I responded to one book offer, but I never received the book, so I presume someone else got the book.
<jl> Thank you Laurraine --and for the record, that isn't because Laurraine is lazy, it's because she's been remaking her life from scratch with an inter-state move.
<Laurraine> That's about it other than contacting Midge from time to time to see what was happening with her.
<jl> Are there any other department reports? If not then is there any old business? Call for Unfinished Business?
Then on to New Business.

Writing & Publishing Ventures

In pursuit of the project to distribute E-books, Sime~Gen Inc. has established an Imprint.
     Worldcrafters Books
     A division of Sime~Gen Inc.
     P.O.B. 1244
     Murray, KY, 42071 - 0022
     http://www.simegen.com
     e-mail: simegen@simegen.com

We may become a packager, and have other plans for this imprint. It focuses on non-fiction, and mainly on subjects related to mastering the art and craft of fiction writing. We have a 5 volume set on the use of Tarot in worldbuilding, and a set of on the craft of writing, plus a volume on the use of Astrology in writing craft. These would be presented as e-books and available on paper via Amazon.

<Karen> This is good for e-books and Sime~Gen, but what about print... some of us still enjoy print.
<jl> The next item of new business will be the stock awards.

Stock Awards
Jacqueline Lichtenberg, President, Sime~Gen, Inc.

The next order of business should be the stock awards.
This year our stock awards reflect the fact that we've been in station-keeping mode rather than actually aggressively accomplishing tasks and making money.
Here are the awards for work done in 2009
Kaíres Tévesu - 1
Karen MacLeod - 2
Lois Wickstrom - 1
Patric Michael - 3
Wendy Fischer - 1
Lisa Saunders - 2
Ronnie Bob Whitaker - 2
That concludes the non-voting preferred stock awards for this year!

<jl> There are others who likewise have contributed to simegen.com whose work will not be forgotten by next year. The next order of new business will be any awards people would like to nominate our staffers for.

Before we start I'd like to say that I'm dedicating this year's chat session to our most recently lost contributor, Balu, (Thomas E. Hufford) who has kept Karen online with all his work on her computers, computer generation after computer generation. He will be sorely missed.

Nominations are now open for achievement awards.
