DISASTER . . .

. . . over a thousand years ago, humanity was divided into two mutant forms, Simes and Gens. Simes had six tentacles on each arm, eight to attach to the Gen arms and four to draw selyn, the very life force they needed to live, which they could not produce. They were faster and stronger than Gens, the perfect predator to exploit them. Gens considered themselves to be the true humans, with little outward change, but they produced the substance that Simes couldn't live without. If they resisted the Sime Need, they died. To Gens, these tentacled mutants were nothing more than inhuman monsters who must be destroyed at all costs. Was there any way to bring these two groups of humans together in UNITY?

House of Zeor

House of Zeor

Raids to capture Gens and take them back to Sime Territory were not uncommon events, but something was different this time. One of the captured Gens was Aisha Rauf, holder of the secrets for the production of Gen Territory currency. Was this just another raid, or part of an organized plot to destroy the economy? The government had to know, and the best way to find out was to send an agent to find Aisha and return her. Hugh Valleroy had an even more important reason, she was his fiancée. Only one problem, Gens couldn't wander Sime Territory as secret agents.

In an arranged meeting on neutral ground, Klyd Farris, a Channel, volunteered to help Hugh find the love of his life. Klyd was from a Household, and while not associated with the Gen government, the instability caused by its collapse would not bode well for the progress the Households had made within the Sime Territory. If the Sime government found out though, Klyd and his house would be deemed traitors.

Hugh must learn to act as Klyd's Companion as they begin their search. Hugh became more and more desperate as every lead went nowhere. Only later do they discover that Raiders have invaded the Householdings themselves and they were setting a trap for Klyd and Hugh. Can Hugh ever find his true love, or will his fate be the same as all Gens caught by Raiders? Can Klyd avoid the traps set by his enemies or will he cause the death of the House of Zeor?

Ambrov Keon

Sergei ambrov Keon, a Companion, was devastated when a natural disaster destroyed the Channel he was escorting back to Keon. Risa Tigue watched her father drown and nearly suffered the same fate, barely surviving, but needing a Kill. Fate put these two together and Sergei willingly offered his life force to this desperate young Sime, recognizing that she was a Channel.

At first, Risa refused to believe this, or to believe that a Gen could survive her attack, but Sergei did. Years of traditional beliefs are not overcome in a day, but gradually Risa recognized the utility of being able to reuse Gens, rather than have them destroyed after only a single time. Going through the terrible withdrawal effects ridding herself of the Need to Kill, she was accepted into Keon as a Channel.

Householdings were not popular or welcomed by most normal Simes. Risa used her business acumen to make Keon a financial bedrock, even respected by most normal Simes. Some normal Simes find themselves working for the Gen Sergei in an iron smelter. But along with power comes envy and resentment. Can Risa and Sergei stave off the plots to destroy the Household so that more can enjoy the benefits of AMBROV KEON?

Zelerod's Doom

Zelerod was a devoted mathematician, but his investigations in the rising population of Simes led to some disturbing conclusions. He was convinced that humankind was destined for destruction unless something was changed. He believed his numbers so fervently that he died in the attempt to change himself.

Klyd and Risa were both trying to implement ways to do away with the wasteful deaths of Gens, but their successes were small and steady. Convincing Simes who were addicted to the Kill that there were other ways to survive wasn't easy. Then disaster struck the Northwest Territories and there were no Gens left. A barbaric hoard of desperate Simes headed towards them, grabbing Kills however they could.

Only the combined strength of the Sime and Gen armies could possibly defeat this onslaught. Could Klyd and Risa convince their own governments as well as the one of the Gen Territory that separated them to join together to avoid the final DOOM?
