Day fades;
more than the bastard
of sea-stormed Poseidon,
one-eyed Polyphemus
the Cyclops
can do.

Mired in rank entrails,
sun downing
and torchlights rising,
Polyphemus tears at its kill,
skulls flung nearby
to the execrable pile.

Moon’s conjuring light
breeds lunacy.
Night, dreams flaming,
Cyclops lays waste with thousand eyes
and wakes in single sight,
HUNGRY.
