continuance of a long, long novel you can get your teeth into. It's
professional level writing with original characters, themes and locations, but
leans heavily on your knowledge and appreciation of the underlying Sime~Gen
Universe background. And as noted on this page above, Sime~Gen has found a new
home at Meisha Merlin Publishing Inc. Read all about that here.

June 21 - Jean Lorrah's BLOOD WILL TELL to be Trade Published
Blood Will Tell, Jean Lorrah's e-book which won the Lord Ruthven Assembly
Award as best vampire novel of 2001, has been contracted by a new small
press, Ben Bella Books http://www.benbellabooks.com/
. That means physical
books will be available in brick and mortar bookstores, although as
BenBella is new and small it will probably be specialty stores and not
Wal-Mart. The book will have new cover art, and author and publisher are
currently working on a promotion scheme. It should be available toward the
end of 2002.
Blood Will Tell will continue to be published in e-book form by Awe-Struck
E-books http://www.awe-struck.net/ ,
its original publisher, but the
print-on-demand version will be withdrawn in October.

MARCH 2002
***Jean Lorrah's BLOOD WILL TELL wins
literary award***
Each year the Lord Ruthven Assembly gives awards for the best fiction and
nonfiction works on the subject of vampires. The winners for the year
2001 are
Fiction: BLOOD WILL TELL by Jean Lorrah
Non-fiction: FOOD FOR THE DEAD by Michel E. Bell
There were over 150 vampire novels published in 2001, including new books
by Anne Rice and P. N. Elrod. The Lord Ruthven Assembly is the group of
scholars of vampire literature and lore who meet every year in association
with the International Conference on the Fantastic.
Jean reports, "I wasn't expecting the honor, and didn't even know my book
was being considered. It's always exciting to win an award, and this one
comes from people who really deeply study vampire literature, so it means
a
great deal to me."
Jean Lorrah is co-owner with Jacqueline Lichtenberg of simegen.com and
Sime~Gen Inc. You can find out more about her work at

Delphi by Elizabeth Rose now posted.
March 8 - After our move to our new server, we are now beginning
to post updates to many pages throughout the domain. The Reviews Department has many updates
to report, and more coming over the next few weeks. Here is a message from
Shari Brennan, head of Reviews. You will find all these Review sections
under Reviews.
There is lots going on in reviews right now. There are
several new science fiction reviews on Spatium Arena and on the non-fiction
reviews site too. A new addition to the reviews main page is a featured
reviews section. It will give Gatemasters the chance to draw visitors into
their sites with new reviews. In addition, Spatium Arena is happy to
announce that Amy Harlib is doing movie and TV reviews. She already has
three reviews posted there. We also have a new Horror Gatemaster who is
settling in, Deb Quaife. She has excellent qualifications and I am happy to
welcome her.
Finally, the spring book awards program has kicked off.
Publishers in our database were all contacted and we are now getting flooded
with books. Gatemasters have from now until the end of April to review as
many books as they can. Then, the Gatemasters will nominate books for our
award program. In order to be nominated, the book must have a review posted
on SimeGen. It will not matter when the book was published. After
Gatemasters nominate the books, their choices will go into a voting form and
our site visitors will vote for their favorites.
At this time there are a few openings for Reviews in several
departments. If you wish to review for simegen.com - email reviews@simegen.com

08/08/01 BYGONE DAYS
-- NEW Fiction e-zine seeking submissions.
Of late the niche for historical fiction seems to have been shrinking, but
don't be fooled--that's just loose sediment. It's been a while since anyone
ventured down to the cellar. And there are some great old bottles of wine
lurking on that ledge.
Sime~Gen is pleased to announce Bygone Days, a new online magazine of historical fiction. We are
currently seeking short story submissions in all historical sub-genres. Do
drop in and peruse our guidelines: http://www.simegen.com/writers/bygonedays/
Take us to another time. Bring along your graven bowl, goblet, or fluted
glass, and drink deep. The dry spell's over.
