Hey all
I sent the banner to Jane for approval and she wants one line changed.
It can be used on the top or the last line, whichever Patric thinks will look better. Instead of Choose what's right, she would like "Novel Books Inc, May release". PLEASE say this is do-able. Otherwise she
Thanks for the image, Eric. You did well jamming that line in there. As for how it looks, itself... Well, its a lot of text to stuff in so small a space.
Right now I am divided on "how it looks". On one hand, if the color of that line stays the same as the title and byline, it makes more grammatical sense to put it at the bottom. If it stays at the top, it needs to be a different color to create a separate "grammatical statement".
Given a choice between the two, I'd say to make it the bottom line, and leave it red. It loses some of its catchiness if it were a different color, and I don't want to impart the idea to our potential advertisers that we can make endless revisions, especially when that advertiser doesn't fully grasp what she is requesting. :) (Lisa... No more so than I wanted JL to be thinking she should be writing copy for it. We charge extremely competetive prices, but with those must come limits to what we can reasonably do.)
So, if you are willing, Eric, drop the changed line to the bottom and send it on. (as revision six) If you are unwilling, then consider it approved "as is" (Revision five)
likes the banner and wants to keep the EPPIE winner mouseover.Karen will have already set that up, so all that needs to happen is she gets a copy of the final Jane approved form, and uploads it with the appropriate name.
Eric, wait for Patrics reply before you change it, and then send me the finish copy to verify with Jane ONE LAST time before Karen runs it. Thanks everyone for your patience.....she misunderstood apparently how the banner would look.Yeah. Figured that was the case when I saw the cover she sent, in conjunction with her idea of a blurb. Oh well... This has gone on a bit too long, but its a good learning experience for all of us so I count it worthwhile.
Did anyone see a payment come through yet? It was mailed this past week by snail mail, but I havent gotten anything on it yet. Wait for it before posting. I told Jane it would post on 31st, so we have a few days to play with.Remember this aspect is wholly on Jeans end. Since she is away for a while, we wont really know until she gets back to pick up her snail mail.
In that light, I don't think there is any harm in running it anyways. We can certainly pull it in a heartbeat if necessary, and quite frankly, it gives me an opportunity to test a few theories regarding the automation of this whole process... Lets just go ahead this once and assume payment has already been received, at least until April second.. :)
Patric
Keep me informed, thanks again. LISA
My reply:
Here's take 6.
Patric: I agree with your comments, and have been pondering similar paths myself. Not knowing the user's parameters, or having any more information than what was provided originally, this has been difficult to do an adequate job.
On a side note, I left the 75% opaque box the full width of the text so the text underneath would not be distracting to the text above, instead of resizing it to the width of the (new) bottom line.
Are we done yet?
- Eric.
