Alice's Page

Hi, I'm Simegen's Assistant Review Coordinator.

Born in Brooklyn, raised on Long Island, I'm a retired registered nurse with seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. I have also been a reporter for a newspaper and sold, wrote and created advertising. I did photography professionally. I've never tried to sell any of my fiction (but I will now!) but I have been published in trade journals and newspapers with articles on nursing, quality improvement, utilization review and HMOs.

My taste in books is eclectic and runs the gamut of both fiction and non-fiction. In the three years that I've been reviewing for Simegen, I've reviewed nearly every genre. My favorite author as a child was Carolyn Keene. I followed Nancy Drew's adventures religiously. It wasn't for years that I discovered that Carolyn Keene was a conglomeration of many different authors. Growing up, I read Agatha Christie voraciously. Hercule Poirot and Jane Marple popped up frequently in my dreams at night.

So, it's no wonder that I've gravitated to the realm of mystery.

Each month, as a part of Simegen, I'll be writing a column and reviewing and interviewing an author in the mystery genre.

I hope you enjoy it!
