FIRST TRANSFER #10/11 9008.10

The newsletter of the Alternate Universes Welcommittee

dedicated to the many universes of Jacqueline Lichtenberg

Published on a quarterly basis

Price: One SASE per quarter issued

FROM THE SECTUIB'S DESK ... AGAIN!

I hope everyone's summer has been terrific ... so far at least. I know I have!!

As I've stated elsewhere (like the first half of FT#10/11), I've moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Since my arrival here, I have been looking for work. (I may have found something by the time this gets into print.) I've also spent a fair amount of time with Andrea Alton who moved here a while back.

As a result of my getting together with Andrea, we will be making arrangements to become roommates for the purpose of keeping each other from feelings like we're cut off from the world and mostly to do our best at sharing our expenses.

When this happens, we may not even stay here in Colorado. We could easily end up in another part of the country. (Initially we will be spending winter in the Chicago area. We could very well stay there or find somewhere else to go. We haven't really finalized any plans.) We do know that this will occur either shortly after I get this back from the printers or within a month or two thereafter.

Rest assured that wherever I wind up I will let you all know!

Well, now for the stuff I like to do best! Allow me to welcome my readers, new and old, to this issue of FIRST TRANSFER. WELCOME EVERYONE!!!!

As you can see, I've found out how to use the graphics that came with this program. That is, aside from the cute ones in the fonts section under glyphs. Soon I hope to buy an additional set of graphics and get to use them with this nifty little program.

Latest word from Karen Litman is that she fell during her horse show at Devon and had injured herself. Trooper that she is, she got up and kept on going. She placed fifth in this show for Equitation and a sixth in the Walk-Trot class. (She's doing much better now.) Two weeks later at a State-wide handicapped show she took a first for Equitation and a second in Obstacles. Way to go Karen!!!! Have faith in Karen folks, she's still plugging away at getting CZ done!

As you can see, also, besides other neat graphics, this is a combined issue of FIRST TRANSFER #10 and #11. Mostly because I never got JACQUELINE'S CORNER from Jacqueline so I could print issue #10 before I moved to Colorado. Oh well!

I'd also like to thank Donell Meadows for the artwork for those zines when I'm too lazy to sit down and do filler illos! THANKS DONELL!!

This year I'm looking forward to meeting Nova Serafino who recently discovered S/G fandom. She and a friend are going to Darkover to do a nice costume for the masquerade. Any of you who will be there won't have any trouble recognizing where she and her friend got their costume idea! I'm looking forward to meeting Nova. She also plans to attend the yearly Faith Day Party.

Yours in fandom and friendship,

Linda

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS ..........

ROUND ROBIN: According to the Teleod, the Earth humans (and mammals) are unique because they dream, yet so far we have limited understanding of the forms of consciousness known as the dream state. I am interested in forming a Round Robin to share and explore dreams, especially lucid dreams, and other unusual states which occur right before, during, or right after sleep. (Lucid dreams are dreams in which the dreamer KNOWS that s/he is dreaming.) Most people, if motivated, can learn to remember their dreams and to have lucid dreams. There are a variety of techniques which make this possible. The Round Robin would be a place to share this sort of thing. It will NOT be a place to analyze one another's dreams or to practice any form of psychotherapy.

If you are interested in being part of this R.R., please write to

RUTH SACKSTEDER

(street address removed)

Berkeley, CA 95701

Please include a little about yourself, your interest and background in dreaming/lucid dreaming. You may share a dream., if you wish. These letters will be the basis to start the Robin. I will begin when I have 4-6 letters.
