FIRST TRANSFER #10 9005.10

The newsletter of the Alternate Universes Welcommittee

dedicated to the many universes of Jacqueline Lichtenberg

Published on a quarterly basis

Price: One SASE per quarter

FROM THE SECTUIB'S DESK.........

Well, I hope everyone had a pleasant Easter holiday! I sure did.

First of all, allow me to welcome any of you who may be new readers of this newsletter. WELCOME!!!!!

As always, a warm and hearty welcome to those of you who see the newsletter on a regular basis. WELCOME BACK ONCE MORE!!!!!

I'd like to take a moment for some of the newer readers to tell them how this group works. So, gentle folks who know how we work, bear with me a few moments.

It all starts with you. You feel a need to write Jacqueline and express your opinions about her various works. Jacqueline receives them and fills your SASE with all sorts of wonderful things. She makes notes on these letters and mails a bunch of them to me for handling. I log each letter on my computer for future reference and send them to my two assistants if I get a lot of letters or I answer them myself if only three or four come to me. Many times there can be a delay in receiving and answer since none of us live near to the others . . . . and we rely on the U.S. Postal Service. This delay can be anywhere from a couple of weeks to maybe a month. To further complicate things, all of us have jobs and homes to care for.

So, when you think you've been forgotten, you haven't really. We're only human and trying our best to respond to your letters as best we can. All I can ask for is that you please be patient with us.

The Roleplaying Department is really starting to shape up. We have a Story Web running around out there thanks to Donell Meadows! If you are interested in running your character/persona in this madness, SASE Donell (See address elsewhere in this newsletter.) for more information.

In the good news department Donell will be living in Morehead City, NC by the time you receive this newsletter! (As of this writing she is staying with Kerry Lindemann-Schaefer until she finds a place of her own. Hopefully the trailer next door to Kerry. Ed. 4/25/90) At the end of May, I'm packing up all my marbles and moving to Colorado Springs, CO to harass ... er ... live with my dad. Since I'll be getting this out to the general pubic by the end of May, or so I have hopes of doing, I will be listing my new address [as well as Donell's temporary address] under the WELCOMMITTEE STAFF section of the newsletter.

To say that we're both excited about our moves is an understatement! I plan to stay parked in Colorado for a long while!

I'm also excited about the surprise my roomie got for me the other day. He, in appreciation for my presence in his home, has purchased the memory upgrade kit for my humble little Tandy 1000EX system. I can hardly wait to get it installed!

I have some very special announcements to make in this issue of FT.

I'd like to thank Donell for the time she takes to help me fill up all the blank holes I have in FT upon occasion.

That about takes care of all the news I have to give you at this writing!

Yours in fandom and friendship,

Linda

ALIEN NATION FANS

This comes to me from Kerry (one of two)!

I'm planning to publish a fanzine, tentatively titled "TENCTONESE TALES", and am looking for material. The primary emphasis will be on stories set in the "ALIEN NATION" universe, but I'd also like artwork, poetry, and filksongs. If you have something to submit, I'd like to see it. If you want to be notified when the zine is available, please send me a legal-size self-addressed stamped envelope.

Second item from Kerry

THE CARING SHELL

I now have available in booklet form my story, "The Caring Shell". This is not S/G. It is set in my own original universe and deals with a species of egg-laying semi-marine aliens. The 37-page booklet is for sale for $3.00, which includes postage and handling. It may be ordered from Kerry.
