Kerry L. Schaefer is a delightful person who for many years was very active in Sime~Gen fandom, including being editor of Ambrov Zeor (the first S~G fanzine) from 1986 to 1996. Kerry also wrote The Only Good Sime, a compilation of the wonderful series of Frevven stories that were published in Ambrov Zeor. Printed copies can be obtained from Keon Emporium.

See more original works at Kerry's Home Page, or make contact by EMail.
Kerry's novel, Walls of Ancient Stone, is available as an ebook   [Additional information below].

And now, a long-awaited article tells of this fascinating person's adventures in recent years. Read it at Update from the Author of the Frevven Stories.

THE WORKS OF KERRY L. SCHAEFER

WALLS OF ANCIENT STONE
A novel by Kerry Schaefer

Have you ever wanted to read exclusively about aliens, without even the obligatory human presence most authors feel compelled to include? Do sexually-unorthodox aliens appeal to you? Then perhaps you'd like to share the adventures of a rillenu named Daveeka, a childless male of a race of marsupials where only females and Fathers are of any consequence. He starts out wanting nothing more than the child that will bring him honor and respect, but ends up undermining the walls of tradition and assumption that form the basis of his society.

AN EXCERPT FROM A FOREWORD TO ONE OF THE FREVVEN STORIES

BY JACQUELINE LICHTENBERG

Here you have Kerry's first (I think) attempt to introduce the readers of Ambrov Zeor to Frevven, the nearsighted Channel who often zlins to augment his vision. As I helped Kerry develop this character, he became an integral part of the official History of the Sime~Gen Universe -- he is the last of the disjunct Channels to be trained to work as a Channel and the last to be allowed to work as a Channel. By studying his life from his point of view, you may come to understand why the Tecton (where a lot of the voters are Sime, and the biggest influence is the Channels and Donors) decided not to train disjunct or semi-junct Channels and to bar them from working as Channels -- which consigns them to an early death by Tecton standards of life-expectancy if not by junct society's standards of life-expectancy. Of course, for the real depths of the matter to be made clear, we still must meet a disjunct Channel who lives out his/her life under the Modern Tecton and gradually comes to agree with this essentially political decree. And then there is the matter of the Channel who takes First Transfer from another Channel rather than from a Donor.

Kerry has chosen to focus closely on the last of the disjunct Channels to work in the Tecton, and any subsequent examination of this topic must take Frevven's life into account, for much of the legal structure the Tecton developed subsequently rests on these historically recorded events.
