SCHIFF, JACOB J. "Jay", 89 - of the Pinehurst section of Galloway Township passed away on Sunday evening at Regional Medical Center, Vineland. Jay had been ill since August after suffering a fall. He was the son of the late Herman & Rae Schiff. Jay was born in Dover, and was a longtime Atlantic City resident prior to moving to Galloway Twp.

Jay was employed for many years in the family owned Schiff Business Stationery Store (later Schiff-Charney) in Atlantic City. After leaving the family business, he worked in the Library at the Stockton State College of NJ and volunteered as a math tutor for students at the Atlantic City High School. He also volunteered at the Atlantic Riding Center for the Handicapped. A decorated Veteran of World War II, Jay served in the United States Army Air Corps. While on active duty, he volunteered to be the sole assistant to a military doctor in nursing a highly contagious soldier back to health.

He was a member of the Cape Atlantic Rock Hounds and was also a licensed Ham Radio Operator. He enjoyed bicycling, walking, trains and was a voracious reader, especially science books.

Jay is survived by his wife, Nadine (nee Leeds); one sister, Jenny Flink, FL; as well as several nieces, nephews & great nieces & great nephews.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd. Vineland. A graveside service will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in the Spring.
