Assignment 3

Describe an original protagonist in 100 words or less.

1.    Protagonist - Twenty-eight year old Nathan Allister is intelligent, sensitive, intuitive, and reclusive.    Despite his solitary nature, he often dreams of people, glimpsing their lives in jumbled, confusing images.    (Reluctant Clairvoyant)

2.    Objective - Visions, sporadic intuition, nagging familiarity, and a rapidly growing sense of his own impending doom convince Nathan to search for the prominent elements from his recurring nightmare;    a faceless blonde stranger, a grave stone, a white rose, and a water tower.

3.    Conflict - His own sense of urgency wars with his reluctance to leave the sanctity of his home.

4.    Course of Action - Nathan locates the water tower in a nearby state, only to find that the stranger disappeared mere weeks earlier, apparently taking clues of Nathan's doom with him.

5.    Obstacle - Layer after layer of misinformation, blind leads, and false trails impede Nathan's progress as he searches for the faceless stranger.

6.    Overcoming the obstacle. - Nathan draws more and more heavily on his abilities and discovers disconcerting similarities between himself and the stranger.

7.    Morphs

SciFi - Secretly watched from afar, Nathan is unaware of his true nature as an experimental android, and thus unaware of his impending pre-coded termination.    The images which propel him to seek out the stranger are snatches of his pre conscious moments of being built by the blonde stranger.

Romance - Nathan searches for a faceless blonde woman whom he believes is the love of his life, based solely on his constant dreams and visions of her.    His reluctance to venture out into the world, and his general disbelief in psychic abilites serve to dissuade him from searching her out until his sense of loss and lonliness overwhelm him.

Fantasy - Nathan is unaware that he is destined to fulfill a prophecy by working magic.    He has no way of knowing that the sense of urgency within him is his own inate magical skill urging him to seek out the blonde stranger, who will teach him how to harness his power.    Believing himself to be no more than a simple farmer, his reluctance to leave for his adventure is couched in his need to get the crops planted.

Horror - Nathan is plagued by dreams and visions of a brutally murdered blonde stranger.    Unable to withstand the nagging sense of familiarity, he searches for the man, despite his fears of his own psychic abilities.

Mystery - "I am your father, Luke." :)
