Workshop Assignment 5, Synthesis of Outline to Find Beginning of Story.
Conflict: Author vs. conflict. This is a questing hero story.
She looks in the newspaper but all the conflicts in the stories she finds are either too complex or too silly. (conflict is hiding from protag in false clothes)
Then she decides maybe if she gets out and sees some real people she could find an idea for a conflict there. (P searches for conflict, standard myth structure)
The only things she thinks of from looking at the people wouldn't work because it might offend some one. This gets her thinking about how some people are easily offended and how it makes it difficult for her to find a decent conflict that won't offend anyone, including herself. (conflict throws false shadows at P to protect itself)
Finally she sits down and starts thinking to herself, but this only causes all thoughts of conflict and plot to run away from her even faster. (P searches harder, driving conflict further away)
Giving it up as a lost cause for the day, she realizes her hair is now a mess, which gives her an idea! She can have twins arguing over who deserves a magical brush for their hair. The conflict has been solved by not thinking about it too hard. (P sneaks up on and catches conflict using a trick)
