Workshop Assignment 3, Creation of Protagonist and External Conflict

Protagonist:    Mardis Terlin is a 24 year old, second order channel, who speaks with crisp enunciation, always has every black hair in place, and never, but never would a spot dare to appear on her immaculate uniforms. Her life is almost perfect, except for the fact that she has been assigned a first order donor, Sosu Avilan no-last-name for rehabilitation after too many 'incidents' during his last assignment.

Protagonist's objective:    Mardis desires with all her heart to become a first order channel.

Preventing:    Mardis is an arrogant snot who doesn't have the compassion of a rock.

Obsticle:    Avilan is generally a slob, not very bright, and a klutz all of which cause Mardis problems with her work.

Protagonist is going to do:    Try to be even more perfectionistic to try to reach her goal of becoming a first order channel despite having Avilan at her heels.

(The rest of this is for fun ... and I may actually write this silly thing)

Obstical fighting back:    Avilan overrides Mardis on a snap judgement motivated by his compassion that conflicts with her rigid adherence to rules and protocol.

Protag's response:    A rip-roaring drag-out fight with Avilan over his handling of the case against all sense and judgement.

Finish:    Mardis realizes internally that Avilan was right and she was wrong which gives her the compassion she needed to reach her goal.

Extra Credit:    Whoops ... original plot was too short so ended at above finish, no novel from me for extra credit.
Straight fiction, not Sime~Gen, substitue intern and doctor for channel orders, Avilan becomes a nurse.
Russian Sime~Gen, Mardis is jockeying to get her capitalization (become a technical junct, go from lord to Lord) in the court and Avilan becomes junct. (Sharm Lord ... highest rank obtainable for a gen)
If its a romance she learns to relax and enjoy life being married to someone so unlike herself.
International Intrigue, Mardis was actually a spy undercover and found out that Avilan really wasn't so stupid and is the head of a drug ring, ending by exposing Avilan as a master criminal.
Horror, Avilan is murdering people in his stupidity and Mardis has to stop him.
SF, did that.
Fantasy, Avilan is a supernatural being that leads Mardis through a spirit walk to teach her compassion.
Western, I haven't a -clue- as I don't read those.
