While I enjoyed this novella very much I think if it were longer it would
have been much better.

Prior to her death Charlotte's grandmother told her tales of the vampire.
Charlotte's grandmother even had Charlotte read an old letter her grandmother's
sister wrote about becoming a vampire as further truth of their existence. When
Charlotte's mother found out she had been learning about vampires she freaked.
Charlotte's mother felt that the grandmother was evil for bringing up vampires.
She hated the whole subject. But Charlotte's mother also hated Charlotte for reasons
Charlotte knew not. After the outburst between her mother and grandmother, the
grandmother was shipped off to a home for the elderly.

From that time on Charlotte hated any mention of vampires. During all her years
she never believed they could be real but she did remember the harsh treatment
at her mother's hands. While growing up and even into her adult life Charlotte
had it hard. She had to support her mother when she was ill and never had
enough money to do things she would have wanted to. Once when she was
working in a bar she ran into Toni her one time best friend she was so embarrassed
at how her life turned out that she never met Toni after work for dinner, as promised.

Then one day something terrible happens. Charlotte finds out vampires are real
the hard way. Charlotte is about to jump to her death when a vampire stops her.
What a cruel awakening when he stabs himself to prove he isn't human. From
there is where the action begins. Charlotte is to face even more cruel
awakenings when she comes into contact with her vampire relatives.

My only complaint is that the shortness of the story left unanswered situations.
I think there was much more that could have been written and expanded upon.
This would make a great book if the author were so inclined too write it.
