This is a follow up book to Bloodwind. I think it was even more intense then
the first.

Dr. Caitlin Kelly gets much more then she bargains for when she and a few
on the Orion on Montyne Vex to answer a distress call. Caitlin and the crew
aren't quite prepared for what they find. There are women that seem to have
killed themselves by drinking hemlock as some sort of ritual. They also find
a humanoid chained in a room burned and mutilated as if someone had tortured
him. Being a Dr. Caitlin immediately goes about helping this being. Though
he seems part human when they get him aboard the Orion they find he is much
more. He seems to be a werewolf though that is impossible isn't it?
Werewolves and vampires are things of human myth. Not something they would
find on another planet.

What happens on the ship is even more unreal. The ship is approached by
another ship seeking this being called Khierson Cree. It seems the other
ship is the crew that has been searching for Khierson. They want him back
only what ends up happening is they take control of the Orion. Khierson
has a few plans of his own, such as taking Caitlin Kelly as his mate. This
is against his friend's advice and surely against Caitlin's will, or at first
it is. Caitlin settles in to the idea fairly quickly, though the idea of
what he is still frightens her. Khierson Cree has a very strong appeal
for women, Caitlin included.

Meanwhile Khierson's bloodsire Kameron Cree is living on earth with his own
Terran mate. Domestic life is not all it is cracked up to be. Bridget and
Kam are on the outs often lately. Bridget doesn't understand why Kam won't
hold their son and Kam isn't willing to let her know. Many things stand in
the way of Bridget and Kam's happiness. Not the least of which is Kam's own
stubbornness. As if his home life isn't bad enough Kam must also hide from
the Multitude. The same women that tried to kill his son. Evidently he
isn't hidden well enough as the Multitude manage to capture Kam and take him
to the same planet his own son was held on.

Though Bridget was angry with Kam she didn't want to lose him, and now she
may have lost him for good. What will she do, where will she turn? Will
she ever see her lover again? Will he live to see another day or to return?
What tortures do the Multitude have in store for Kam and will he escape or
will this really be the end of him? If he does get away will he be able to
help his bloodsons whom are awaiting execution by the Multitude?

Back to Khierson, what trials will he and Caitlin have to deal with? Will
she ever truly accept his true nature? What about the runaway princess of
the Multitude, Khierson's ex-lover? What will happen when she and Caitlin
meet up?

Charlotte Boyett-Compo's writing style is absolutely inspiring. She will
have you riveted to the story until the very end. Don't pick this up unless
you are prepared to leave everything else alone. You won't want to put it
down and won't want to stop until you are finished. By the end the story will
leave you desperately wanting more.
