Much time has passed since powerful vampire Mikhail had attempted a takeover of the supernatural world. Thwarted by Connor MacNaughten and friends, the vampire is now a shadow of his former self. Blind and recovering slowly from horrific injuries, the vampire now needs help in attaining supreme power. He tells one of his consorts to go to the most powerful of witches, Mortianna. An alliance with this witch will allow Mikhail the strength he needs to gain the upper hand over all the do-gooders. But Mortianna has her own agenda. After her daughter Bliss died at the hands of the vampires, the witch is seeking vengeance of all of their kind. Not only did they turn her into one of them, but their species as directly responsible for taking her daughter away forever. First, she will destroy the immortal that turned her daughter into a vampire, then she will see about ridding the world of all ofd them. She sends her minions out to collect Sinjun (Damien St.James) at his isolated estate. Maeve has been a guest in Damien's house for nearly a year now. Though not a prisoner, she is kept at the remote piece of Scotland to protect her. Some years ago Mikhail killed her twin sister and made her a vampire and she is likely a target of the mad vampire. When she is overtaken and mistakenly brought to Mortianna, her life takes an entirely different turn. Will this witch assist her in putting Mikhail to rest forever or will Maeve be the ultimate sacrifice? Quinn never expects to find adventure when he goes to pay homage to his deceased half-sister Bliss. In a witch's world things don't always happen according to plan, and soon he is protecting Maeve from his mother's wrath. As they race against time to help Sinjun and the other vampires, their feelings for each other begin to awaken. Will Quinn and Maeve have the strength to make it through all the dangers? Redemption is another brilliant offering from JC Wilder. Just when I think this series has reached the end of innovation, Ms Wilder pulls another unique and brilliant twist out. Quinn and Maeve are great characters wrapped up in a story with enough suspense and tension to captivate me. There is only one problem with this book. When I finished it, I was hungry for more! |
