This is the second in a new vampire series that Shannon Drake has recently begun
in Beneath A Blood Red Moon

We are transported to New Orleans to take up the life of Jade the woman that survived the
vampires in book one. She seems to be doing quite a bit of dreaming about a man that is not
her fiancée. This someone happens to be the man that saved her from the vampires previously.
Though she only saw him for a short period of time he has invaded her dreams very frequently.

Soon people begin turning up dead. These people are also the survivors from the same ordea
l that Jade went through previously. Matters are made worse by the fact that the authorities
believe these deaths are attributed to a cult and not to true vampires. They have no intention
of following that line of investigation.

Then the man Jade has been dreaming about comes to town. It seems that the persons or
vampires responsible for the past and current murders are vampires challenging this man's
authority as king of the vampires. It seems these vampires are tied to Lucien's past. The
woman/vampire in charge of the murders is also the same vampire that created Lucien
and now either wants him back under her control or dead. She also seems to hate Jade,
as Jade looks exactly like Lucien's dead wife. The same wife that was the contributing
factor towards Lucien's independence from this vampire woman.

Basically the rest of the story revolves around the fight between Lucien and Sophia
his maker. There is the contributing story line of Jade and her fiancée and what
decisions she must make. Though some are made for her. This female vampire has
put not only Jade, but her friends, and family in peril. The only question here is
will Lucien or Sophia win?

I found it a bit of a slow go. I found at times the book kept my interest but in many
areas it lacked enough storyline or action to keep my attention. It took me quite
sometime to finally finish reading this book. I do however have plans on reading
the third in the series in the hopes that it will be better then the first and second.
