| This is a short fiction entry, so don't expect convoluted plots. But I found it quite enjoyable. It takes place near the Arizona-Mexico border. As a recent immigrant to the state, I found the situation to be of interest. The Arizona-Mexico border is an active area for illegal immigrants from Mexico. The protagonist is a new border agent. When her teammates go off, telling her that they want to get a few drinks, she is left alone. She had expected a quiet night, as it's Christmas Eve, but a lot of things start happening.
This is one of those cross-genre pieces that's difficult to place (the publisher calls it romantic suspense). There is even one scene that borders on the erotic; it's highly suggestive but doesn't go into any graphic details. I mention it, because some readers might find it offensive. Otherwise it is an enjoyable story with pretty good character development, considering the length of the work. As for reflecting on actual border activity, I really wouldn't know; but I found it to be convincingly told. | | |
