One of the world’s most hated men was Adolph Hitler. Hitler’s Judas, Book II of the "Pea Island Gold Trilogy", tells the story of a valued member of the Third Reich--Martin Bormann. Bormann was Hitler’s personal secretary and watched as Hitler slowly deteriorated. Determined to not go "down with the ship", he hatches a plan to leave the country with 50 million in stolen Nazi gold. The ultimate moment of realization comes when he gets to Pea Island, a lonely strip of sand north of Cape Hatteras on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

The book also tells the story of Horst Von Hellenbach, Germany’s U-Boat Captain, a man in conflict over his hatred of the war and the Nazi regime and his love for his fatherland. Several stories are told in this intricately carved portrayal of Germany during the Second World War. The characters are realistically written and come alive for the reader.

There is violence and betrayal and, ultimately, vengeance and satisfaction. The historical accuracy and description make this novel well worth reading. This reviewer can hardly wait for Book III.
