| Very inspirational! As the communication to childhood memories opened, some of the special poems from this wonderful book took me back to an enjoyable season of youth. Even though times were harder back then, the children had their own sparkling carefree entertainment. There was no hurry up and wait like in this modern day world. Times were tough but families stuck together and did the best they could with what they had.
Everyday understanding stayed in the minds of the women as they went about their daily routines, while the men rushed off to their jobs to take care of their share of the responsibility.
Poems, Prayers, and Promises of an Appalachian Woman is a book that will uplift the soul of the reader. Once you let Mary Ellen Goble Preece lead you down each golden path and find out what is hidden there, the messages she has arranged throughout each segment will open another treasure that should be an inspiration to anyone who reads this amazing book. In the Appalachian hills, neighbors have always been ready to collaborate with other neighbors in time of need. That, to me, shows a true friend. A wonderful author that can bring out a unique kind of talent and put it to words is also very impressive to me! As images from the past rush into the reader's mind, a semblance of a small child, in a small town is brought back from a golden era. Thank you for the walk down memory lane. This pleasant keeper of hometown memories will be cherished and walked through again. | | |
