| Following the death of his mother while giving birth to him, his father has had nothing to do with his offspring, James Macpherson. Instead others have raised him. The male protagonist believes he is unworthy of love, as he remains estranged from his father while the woman who loves him plans to prove to him he is wrong and he is deserving of her love.
