| Every once in awhile, a nonfiction book comes along that is a definite keeper. The Muse on Writing is just such a book. Compiled by Lea Schizas, editor, this book comprises multiple chapters or essays that cover every gamut of the book and writing market.
The book is divided into two sections. The first assists you as you attempt to finish your manuscript, while the second deals with specifics of each genre. Included are guides to writing, editing, selling, promoting, and self-publication. Both fiction and nonfiction are thoroughly examined.
Interspersed throughout the book are references to lots of excellent web sites. Of special interest is a section near the end of the book that contains multiple interviews with published authors. This book is definitely a must for anyone who considers him- or herself a dedicated writer. But not all of the book is serious, and the humorous glossary found at the end of the book makes the entire reading experience a distinct pleasure. Now, if you’ll pardon me, this reviewer has some web sites to look into! | | |
