| What do you get when you mix gardening, science, and murder? Why, Peggy Lee, of course. In their second "Peggy Lee Garden Mystery", Joyce and Jim Lavene have once again brought us to Charlotte, South Carolina, to visit with Peggy at her garden shop, The Potting Shed. In this adventure, she witnesses the death of a good friend and, in trying to help his widow, almost winds up "dying" of curiosity while solving yet another murder.
Fruit of the Poisoned Tree is well-written, fast-paced, and downright delightful. The suspense will keep you guessing all the way to the heart-stopping finale. The characters are wonderfully crafted and well-developed, and one can almost feel the snow coming down on the Charlotte streets.
This is for any mystery buff who wants to meet and enjoy a heroine both stubborn and lovable. Add in a well-seasoned mix of characters and a great Dane with a new-found behavior problem, and it leaves you begging for more--and wondering what is in store for Peggy in her next adventure! This reviewer will be waiting to read all about it. | | |
