| As a music connoisseur of the 50s and 60s, I simply can’t agree with Dwight Rounds’s put-down of such wonderful songs as "Blue Velvet" and "Go Away Little Girl". But that didn’t stop me from thoroughly enjoying a journey through the music of 1964 to 1972. The Year the Music Died is, indeed, a "trip" down memory lane. Interspersing the history of groups and individuals with charts of their best selling singles and albums (after starting with a five page trivia quiz) makes the book readable and able to sustain a reader’s interest throughout its 307 pages.
If you have an interest in music or even just lived and listened during this unforgettable era of legends, this nostalgic peek at the past is for you. As Bob Cole states in his forward, "Dwight Rounds is not a run-of-the-mill music buff, but rather the Jacques Cousteau or Neil Armstrong of the everyday music fan of that era." Rock on, Dwight!
