| Queen of Broken Hearts tells the heartwarming story of Dr. Clare Ballenger, a therapist who seems to specialize in "broken hearts". Working to open a permanent home for the special retreats that she leads, she has to cope with further trials and grief from best friends and her daughter, Haley. To top everything off, after a tragic end to her marriage, Clare can’t seem to heal herself; and she has two beaus sparring over the chance to help her.
With a well-developed cast of characters both funny and heartbreaking, Cassandra King has written a novel that truly captures coping, healing, and the Southern way of life. The setting of this book is a small town in Alabama -- Fairhope. I have been to this quaint, lovely place many times. For those from this area, this novel will bring nostalgia; for everyone else, it will just be a good read! This book has served to whet my appetite for more by this wonderful writer.
