Price: $10.99 | I'm starting this review with a warning that if you don't like lots of sex in your books, stay away from this one. It definitely needs to be handled with pot holders. This was my first Jaid Black story, but I definitely plan on getting others. Now, on to this story.
Kris Torrence is 34, has ten cats, and is a tenured professor of anthropology at San Francisco State University. She is also bored with her life when she sees an ad in a magazine. "Hotel Atlantis is currently searching for select females to work in our exclusive gentlemen's resort situated on a private island off the coast of San Francisco. Women comfortable in the role of submissive are especially needed." As this has always been her fantasy, Kris calls the phone number in the ad. Just before she leaves on her excursion, Kris has a run-in with Jack McKenna. He is the owner of a multimillion-dollar construction company and is also a corporate financier of the university's anthropology department. Kris despises Jack, because she believes him to be a spoiled millionaire who doesn't care about anything and dates every brainless woman he can get his hands on. Jack thinks Kris looks down on him because of what he did before he became a millionaire.
Speed forward to the Atlantis Hotel. John Calder, owner of the hotel, has just welcomed Kris and explained to her what she can expect during her time there. After Kris leaves the office to go get prepared, John is visited by another arrival to the hotel -- none other than his very old friend Jack McKenna. John informs Jack that he has the perfect woman for Jack to spend his visit with. The catch to this is that Jack will have to earn her. Jack and Kris eventually run into each other and have their usual confrontations. Jack quickly realizes that he wants to spend his time with Kris, and this leads him to participate in every game where Kris's limited temporary services are offered as the prize. This eventually leads to Jack's final competition where if he wins, he gets Kris for the rest of his stay.
The title of this book says it all. The Possession is a well-written, highly erotic story of two people who decide to do something different to shake up their lives and find love along the way. The secondary characters were very intriguing, and I would like to see some of them have their own stories. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. As I said earlier, make sure you use your potholders when reading this one. I highly recommend it to anyone who is extremely adventurous in her reading. Enjoy the wild ride!!! I did. | | |
