| Daniel Waintrup is a Jewish businessman, but he started out as a tennis instructor at a country club in Florida. He has written a book that highlights this earlier career. It's a collection of funny moments from his life, beginning with a short sketch of his youth.
From the start he apparently had a knack for comedy. He could probably make it as a stand-up comedian, in the style of Gabe Kaplan. This book is basically a written version of a series of such routines.
I'm not Jewish nor do I play tennis, but I found the book very enjoyable to read, and it had me bursting into frequent laughter. I do admit to having numerous Jewish friends, and that may have coloured my enjoyment. But the author definitely has a knack for distilling life experieences into humorous stories. He also has the ability to laugh at himself as well as others.
This book is a great light read for times when you don't feel like getting into something serious. | | |
