| I didn't recognize the artist's name, but it turns out I have seen at least one of his works before, on the cover of a magazine I've subscribed to for years. Probably the fact that his name is a complicated Polish one kept me from remembering it. He was born in Poland but now lives in America. The book presents a mixture of mostly digital art. Each picture has a caption written by the artist describing the circumstances of the creation. The digital art has been created using software that is familiar to anyone who has dabbled in digital art -- Photoshop, Bryce, and Poser. For those not familiar with those, Bryce is good for creating digital backgrounds and Poser is used to create and manipulate people and animals. Photoshop will be familiar to most as software to manipulate photos, but it is also a powerful tool for creating art.
Most of the artist's works are science fictional in nature. Some are fantastical. I look at them with envy and wonder how long it will take me to be able to create such pictures. If you've enjoyed art by any of the science fictional artists, such as Kelly Freas or Rick Sternbach, you will not want to miss this book. It is a great volume to add to your collection of art books. | | |
