The child in this book has to think and make decisions like an adult. She has a wonderful loving family. She also has a wicked aunt who wants whatever Imogene and her family have. In this fairy-tale setting or fantasy world, the people have extraordinary strengths. The child, Imogene, helps to move the story along. She has a purpose, plus a strong will to get done what she has to do. Will she be able to fulfill the goal that is set before her and make her world a better place?
The author, Teresa Saari, knows how to think like a child and to use child-like language in order to build a wonderful story structure and to lead the reader into a wonder world of make-believe.
The book Imogene of The Pacific Kingdom deserves the rating of 5 because the main character kept the story moving at a fast pace. It would be great reading for elementary and middle school students. | | |
