Price: $23.95 | Roadside Ron is the tale of a middle-aged biker named Ron Healy. Fleeing Chicago after a divorce, he winds up in the small desert town of Borrego Springs, not far from the California coast. Stopping for gas he meets John Phillips, who, after learning that Ron can rebuild carborators, offers him a place to spend the night and half the profit if Ron will rebuild a carb for him. John is an excellent mechanic who can do anything on a car except rebuild carbs. This leads to Ron going to work for John and living in John's garage -- an ideal arrangement for both of them.
Ron settles in, acquires a girl friend, Billy Jo, and rather enjoys his life, until he meets someone on the Internet who interests him greatly. She lives in New York. Ron grows restless with a growing desire to meet this lady. And while he's very fond of Billy Jo, he's not sure if he really loves her. So he sets out on a cross-country trip on his new Harly to New York to meet his pen pal.
At first glance one, might think this is a man's book for men, being all about a big tough biker. It's that of course, but it's much more. Under it's tough exterior it's a tale of a sensitive person finding out what's really important in his life. I recommend this one highly. | | |
