This book is the sequel to Light Play, which told the story of Rick Lockwood and Caroline Denaro's experiences with plant/human mutation. Caroline's grotesque and psychotic mutation was stopped by Rick's bravery. Now Rick is trying to recover and learn to deal with his bodies changes.

Genetechnic is under investigation and the ISO has wisely placed guards on Rick to protect him from unscrupulous parties interested in his abilities. The discovery that Caroline Denaro's body was not destroyed by fire, but in fact has been frozen, is not encouraging to anyone involved in the horror of her rampage and her demise. Rick still fears that he may mutate further and become another Denaro.

Who has stolen part of Denaro's body, can it be FOCUS or is it Cliasto or another group trying to replicate her tissues? How can the ISO protect Rick when someone, maybe one of their own group, is determined to use him in further research? Who is behind the strange gifts sent to Rick to induce him into an out-of-body experience? What will happen to Jason now that he has succombed to the virus and is dying? How are the ISO and doctors going to save Rick who has been shot and is not healing?

Another great book from this author with all of the suspense and non-stop action anyone could hope for along with good solid characters and lots of humor too. I loved it and I'm sure you will also. I hope there are more books in this story-line.
