Treyas Beckering Merripen, now an heir to the elfin throne, was tired of learning how to control his magic abilities. He was ready for an adventure and to be treated like an adult. His upcoming trip to visit the naiad Nissa was a chance for freedom. However his destination was to change with the arrival King Jansson van Tannen.

Jansson wanted Treyas to accompany him to Devil's Hold to retrieve the sword he'd been forced to leave behind in their previous adventure. Treyas readily agreed, looking forward to escaping from adult supervision. Unfortunately, their journey was not meant to be peaceful. Separated after an attack by Ice Trolls, Treyas and Jansson embark on a journey to discover who was stealing the recently released elfin magic.

For Treyas, the journey would be especially dangerous. For the Dark Prince Rugan, his half-brother, was aiding in stealing the elfin magic. The greatest danger Treyas would face would be his own ability and his desire to save the people he loved. Treyas' only hope lay in Jansson accepting his abilities and destiny.

While meant to be read as a sequel to the Triskelion, The Dark Prince stands on its own. From characters that come alive to scenes that tug at your heart to exciting plot twists, Ms. Francis has written a spectacular novel. It will be interesting to see what Ms. Francis has planned for Book III of the Guardians of Glede. Definitely not a novel to be missed!
