What is a Boxmaster?

When Earth civilizations expand into the galaxy and join the galactic society, Earth explorers discover a planet where certain mineral deposits can be made to resonate to the human mind by cutting them a certain way.  Once cut, they are called Shards.  

These Shards have the property of permanently recording everything in their vicinity without regard to barriers or interference that disables standard recording techniques, but they are fragile as is the attunement to the mind of the one who has cut them.  

Housed in protective Boxes, they can be strategically placed at points where disasters, dangerous experiments or security concerns may require data retrieval.  

The person who has cut the shard must then find the Box by following the psychic resonance, and retrieve it from the disaster site.  A recording can then be made of the data the Shard has gathered.  

The person who cuts Shard, Boxes it and works with it in the field is called a Boxmaster.  

Boxmaster and Boxmaster's Disgrace were bought for publication but never published.  Boxmaster's Home has never been marketed.
