Welcome to our volunteer spotlight of Linda Nelson.
Below is an interview I had with Linda.
Linda: Time...I have lots of time to do something useful or I could just waste it by playing solitaire all day so I choose to give it to others.
Linda: Wow, I have learned so much ... for example I have learned to communicate better with words so as others can know what I what to say but couldn't quite say.
I have also learned to give my opinion on books that I read and turn that opinion into HTML pages that others can review in order to find a good book to read. Also because of having my own Gate I have learned to use FTP to upload files and Arachnophilia program to make HTML pages.
I have also learned a bit about the Mystery Genre a new area for me.
Linda: My work ...? Now that is not quite applicable to me as I do not formally WORK. LOL
I have a bit more confidence in myself and I guess that could be something that Sime~Gen has gifted me with and that could be something useful if I should ever work at a real, paying, job.
Linda: I am the Mystery Gate master and I am a Reviewer at this time.
I have also helped form HTML pages for another Gate master, Carol Castellanos from time to time.
I have also been taught how to work the Mailman program by Karen and I am looking forward to working with the Lists.
I am also a student and member in the WorldCrafter's Guild.
Linda: Right now I am the sole Reviewer for the Mystery genre here on Simegen. Anybody interested in reading a good mystery, check with me ... LOL.
Linda: Volunteering is helpful for me as it gives me PURPOSE and gives me that little ... BOOST ... that UMPH in my attitude, that BOUNCE in my step that has me saying, "This is a day that the LORD has made; let up be joyful and be glad of it."
Linda: OH YES! I have made many friends here.
J.L. and Jean are most encouraging to one who is a newbie. Karen and Patric are great teachers, and Carol and I enjoy great instant messaging chats often and that keeps a smile on my face these days.
Linda: Oh! Accomplishments ... I am not here to accomplish much except to be available and to offer my hands and my eyes and my help to any who would have need of them. I am here to be of service and here I have found purpose and therefore contentment.
