Karen Leslie MacLeod

Karen MacLeod.

Born, New York City, with one brother in the family. Moved to South Jersey in 1971. Relocated to Maryland in 2001.

Karen's involvement with Sime~Gen and the worlds of Jacqueline Lichtenberg and Jean Lorrah go back to 1977, at a Star Trek convention. Karen interviewed Jacqueline for a Star Trek fanzine she edited at the time. Jacqueline offered Karen an autographed copy of House Of Zeor.

1978 saw the creation of A Companion In Zeor, the second Sime~Gen fanzine, with Karen's ongoing involvement all these years. Married in 1979, divorced in 2001. Read and critiqued a number of Jacqueline and Jean's books in manuscript over the years. Began therapeutic horseback riding 1989, owning her own horse for 4 years. Karen is a member of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). Ended up online in 1993, and working with JL and Jean there ever since, including work on preparing the Sime~Gen novels for online release.

Safe, affordable housing in New Jersey was not available. So with the help of friends, a search for such housing was made, and found. So, the move to Maryland, where Karen had some friends in that region.

The move was accomplished through her New Jersey and Maryland friends, and also those at the Atlantic Riding Center for the Handicapped who loaded the truck and helped with packing of the house. Mike Tartaglio, known from his work in A COMPANION IN ZEOR , drove the U-Haul.

Once in Maryland, friends here helped get Karen settled and back online. She still has their continuing help and friendship, for which Karen is grateful.

Karen is now a supporter of Freedom Hills Therapeutic Riding Program, Inc. In addition to the Atlantic Riding Center for the Handicapped
