Karen MacLeod
Around 1975, at a Convention, Jacqueline Lichtenberg met a young lady who, although they didn't know it at the time, was to become a huge part of the Sime~Gen family.
Karen MacLeod was editing a Star Trek fanzine at that time, and was pleased to meet Jacqueline, head of the Star Trek Welcommittee. Jacqueline was pleased to meet someone who equaled her love of fandom and who could edit fanzines. House of Zeor had just come out, and Jacqueline gave Karen a signed copy.
Naturally, Karen was hooked.
In 1978 the first issue of "A Companion in Zeor" was published. It is the only Sime~Gen magazine still accepting submissions, which makes it almost 40 years old.
Meeting Jacqueline gave Karen the opportunity to go from fanzine editor to working with authors preparing books for publication. Karen's keen eye for mistakes made her an invaluable member of the Sime~Gen team, and from there Karen met, and worked with, many other authors.
Outside of Fandom and editing, Karen's interests are varied. She loves cats and horses, and rode for many years with the Atlantic Riding Center for the Handicapped and the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (now known as Path International). Karen is now a supporter of Freedom Hills Therapeutic Riding Program Inc., and Hearts Therapeutic Riding Center, LLC in New Jersey.
